More Sleep Time

This risk is more for kids who are day care since the all the activities make it difficult for them to sleep and leave them sleep deprived. You may ask how much sleep do kids need? It is recommended that babies should need 18 hrs of sleep, toddlers need 12 hrs and preschoolers need 10 hrs of sleep per day. A thin yellowish milk called Colostrum, that comes from breast after few days of baby’s birth is said to contain antibodies that is rich in fighting diseases. According to American Academy of Pediatrics, it is recommended that mothers to breastfeed their baby at least for a year. If this is not possible, then you should at least try to breastfeed for the first 2 to 3 months.

Encourage Exercising

While exercising is a good way to improve health, it also helps in increasing natural killer cells that fights off diseases, says Ranjit Chandra, M.D., a pediatric immunologist. Instead of just telling your kids to go out and play, be a role model for them and make of habit of exercising with your children. Take Steps To Reduce Germ Spreads

While fighting off germs doesn’t mean that it will improve your immunity, it can help in reducing the stress on your kid’s immune system. You can do this by following some good habits like washing your hands with soap. This is particularly important when your kid comes back after play, petting an animal, before meals, etc. Such small habits can do a lot of good for your child. Avoid Smoking

If any of your family members is into smoking, then stop it for the sake of your kid. Forcing your pediatrician if prescribe an antibiotic whenever your kid is having cold or flu is not a good idea. While some pediatricians may prescribe antibiotics coming under pressure by parents who think that it can’t hurt. But you should remember that some stubborn bacteria may resist standard treatment and make it hard to treat them as they could become antibacteria-resistant. So make sure that your pediatrician is prescribing an antibiotic not because of your pressure.
